Draw smart – manage IDs and connectors on a drawing- and project-specific basis. A real-time project tree helps with managing references and the occurrences of devices, cables and connections. The system automatically updates both cross references and wiring references. You can also take advantage of existing circuit schemas or generate ready-made model circuit schemas with the database or an Excel file.
With CADS Electric, you can manage both device and cable IDs as well as information about individual connectors. CADS Electric Pro has extensive data management that covers centralised data management throughout the project.
• Change data in one place and the change is updated to all documents
The same cable or device can be seen in all of the different documents, and the changes can be updated with one edit to all documents from circuit schemas to cabinet layouts or layout drawings. This allows you to complete even large projects efficiently and without errors. You can get the lists and listings you need from the project database with the criteria you want, and they will always have the same information as the drawings.
• Efficiency with mass edits
Mass edits done in Excel and the database bring efficiency to the design. For example, you can change the project’s cable numbering or device IDs all at once, either directly in the database or by importing the data from an Excel file. The changes made are updated into the schemas automatically.

• Design the basic cabling before the first schema has been drawn
The database also makes it possible to create the desired terminal strips directly in the database, in addition to creating cable connections and setting up the cables. This allows you to design the basic cabling even before the first schema has been drawn. All data is available to you later in the schemas and lists, whether they concern cable lists, the connection drawing of an enclosure, or a cable schema.
• Effective drawing features
Different kinds of automatic functions ensure high quality and accuracy of documentation. For example, if the wiring continues on the next page or in another drawing file, information about the continuation is automatically added to both ends. Likewise, if we add a contact to the schema, the wire below breaks and the connectors of the contact are connected to the wire below. This adds the wires’ connection information to the list, and the different connection lists stay up to date. This in turn lightens the designers’ workload and reduces errors. Many different kinds of automatic drawing functions have developed over the years so as to facilitate the meaningful work of the designer, freeing the designer’s time for the actual design work and taking care of other matters
• Product models benefit you throughout the whole project
With product models, you can manage the device symbols (2D/3D) in different design areas, connector information, technical information and product information, equipment identification plates and any other additional information you like dynamically. The specifications are used by different functions, such as reports, 3D and BIM, as well as other auxiliary functions. For example, you can exchange one product model for another in the project, after which the device and connection information, among other things, will be updated automatically throughout the project. You can also create ready-made device packages as product models.
• Different documents with the same software
Create schemas either as individual drawings, or generate large masses based on Excel files, for example. You can also attach the schemas created for a project to new projects.
In schema applications, you can create and edit other electrotechnical schemas. For example, you can use a single-line format to create both main schemas and main line diagrams.
